  • A smart and assured design which celebrates the elegantly figured and opulent Italian marble from Liguria. Quarrying of Portoro marble began in the late sixteenth century and has continued since, a small amount still being extracted today. The Italians forwent its use on grounds of its high price and difficulty to work with, the majority of the material being exported to England and France for decorative use such as this fireplace surround.
